Background Information
The site measuring approximately 8.3 acres is located in Kota Damansara, a new township located in Petaling Jaya, Selangor Darul Ehsan. Our client Giant, one of 4 leading hypermarkets provider in Malaysia, is building one of the largest hypermarket mall in Malaysia. The total built up area not including the parking level is approximately 500,000 sq ft or 43,935 m².

Design Approach
In order to comply with the design brief, the hypermarket is elevated with its parking floors located at the ground floor. The trading area; i.e. its hypermarket is approximately 90,000 sq ft (with a mezzanine floor). The rest of the built up area is provided for the shopping mall at the parking level and hypermarket level.
As the hypermarket is located next to a busy highway, we design to expressed the facade of the mall using glass with clear modern. The corporate colours are used on the facade of the building in order for the building to be identifiable from a distance. |

Design Approach
In option 2, the design is similar but simplified in its design with the introduction of large glass areas and overhangs to shade the glass areas. The building facade colour is largely white and with the used metal cladding and tubular steel structure supporting the roof overhangs. |
