A resort style concept for a residential development in Johor. This particular project is a part of a 1500 development, set in a ranch style development concept which will eventually be self contained. It will also consist of a golf course, a polo club, themed bungalow development, and townhouses. The Architecture concept used here is typically contemporary vernacular. The use of water, which flows in the middle of the development, resembles a waterfront kampong that can be found in many remote riverside villages in Malaysia. The lakeside development consists of Resort Bungalows, Semi Detached units and low rise Apartments.

Situated within the Leisure Farm development and close to the Lakeside resort style residential development, we were also commissioned to design 30 units of Balinese style bungalows on an average of a 17,000 sq ft plot of Land each. Two layout plans, a single storey and a double storey respectively were eventually used for this themed development. Both layout plans, employ an open concept that integrate outdoors spaces as part of the indoor spaces. A lotus pond, courtyard and a sala were incorporated in the design for each bungalow units.

Within the same development, leisure farm was also experimenting a different product, which employs a contemporary modern concept for luxurious Link bungalows. The development is based on a Zero lot layout concept with 25 units of link bungalows that over look a golf course. Each unit will have a water feature, louts pond and a "vanishing" edge pool.

Within a leisure farm development, a precinct was designated to cater for leisure activities within a resort environment. Here, we have assimilated the popular Balinese style and adapted it for a modern contemporary living. In Type 1, a single storey layout is used to emphasize the concept of outdoor spaces as an extension of the interior enclosures. The individual built up spaces are treated as pavilions connected by covered walkways or verandahs in a lush tropical landscaped setting.

The Bali House Type 2 at the Leisure Farm is a variation of Type 1 and follows a similar theme and layout. In this design, a second storey is added to the main house to offer purchasers the option to have the main living quarters on the upper level. The house is entered through a walled open-to-sky courtyard garden that separates the inner private realm of the house from the outside.

In both the houses, the shaded private courtyards extend the internal space of the house to the outdoors to offer a lifestyle attuned to the garden that is suitable in this tropical climate.
