SIRIM Kota Kinabalu, Sabah [ click the pictures for bigger view ]
Located at a new industrial park called the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park, the new Sirim Building will be testing lab similar to the one in Shah Alam for the State of Sabah. This building will be the first phase of an extensive complex which will sprawl over a 14 acre site.

Our design approach here is to design a building which is high tech in nature using steel fabricated materials and metal cladding. The building is also oriented in a north-south orientation to avoid direct sunlight. A center landscaped courtyard is also introduced to soften the area.

Elevational study.
This project is a design competition organized by Tshun Tshin School Board for a new secondary school campus at Menggatal, Sabah. Our approach is a tropical modern architecture with emphasis on vernacular roof form that was used to address the tropical climate. Large overhangs are purposely incorporated into the design to prevent sunlight and rain from penetrating the outer skin of the building.

The core area is where the academic blocks are located, flanked by the residential blocks on one side; and the sports center and the playing field on the other.
